The Calgary Zoo shared a video of two new otter pups with their mom on their social media for National Siblings Day and Canadian Wildlife Week. Not only is it #NationalSiblingsDay – it’s also #CanadianWildlifeWeek! 🍁What better way to mark the occasion than with some otterly adorable content of our #BevyofJoy? 🦦 Enjoy this short but sweet pup-date while mom ‘Kate’ and her pups continue to spend some time behind the scenes! 🍼#YourZooYYCPosted by The Calgary Zoo on Thursday, April 10, 2025 The babies, who were born March 11, appear to still have their eyes closed.

According to a press release from the Calgary Zoo, otter pups’ eyes don’t fully open until they are 28 to 35 days old, and they don’t start moving around and exploring until 35 to 42 days old. In the video, one of the otters can be seen moving around. Their next milestone will be swimming at 56 to 70 days old.

In the social media post, the zoo said the pups are still “behind the scenes” with their mother. It is the third litter for eight-year-old Kate with her mate Finnegan. The sex of the two newest otter pups has not yet been determined.
