ACCRINGTON are coming to Valley Parade to gate-crash the party. That’s the aim from Stanley as they target a third big result against the promotion pack. Wimbledon, City’s only conquerors in 2025 up to now, were held goalless at the Crown Ground on Saturday.
And two weeks ago, Accrington picked off an impressive win at Crewe. Like the Bantams, they have kept the backdoor firmly shut in recent weeks with three clean sheets from their last four games. Stanley cross the Pennines in 20th spot but have a seven-point cushion on second-from-bottom Morecambe with two games in hand.
“We’re going to go there full of confidence again,” said assistant boss Ged Brannan. “It’s another hard game, the land of the giants again. They are a very physical team and they’re on an absolutely brilliant run.
“It’s going to be really tough for us with a big crowd. But we’ll have to go there and see if we can spoil the party. "They're home form is very strong, they get the ball forward a lot and are very direct.
They are very much like Wimbledon were on Saturday. "Everyone must have been panicking when they lost (Andy Cook) but I don't think they've lost many games since. They are playing really well, especially at home.
"It will be nice to see Tommy Leigh and I know Michael Mellon from my Morecambe days as well. They've got good players all over the pitch. "Graham (Alexander) is a top manager but obviously it's a massive club and they should be fighting for the play-offs every season, if not going up.
"They'll get 16,000 in there, we get 2,500. That shows the gulf between the clubs but we'll match them on the pitch." Former City loan striker Dara Costelloe was recalled by Burnley in last month's window having scored five times in his Stanley spell.
He was sent back out to Northampton in League One..
