1 2 Prayagraj: In view of the upcoming festivals like Alvida Namaz, Eid, Chaitra Navratri and Ramnavami, district police on Monday launched a verification drive for e-rickshaw and auto drivers, as well as tenants in urban and rural areas. Apart from activating peace committees in the city, trans- Ganga, and trans-Yamuna pockets of the district, cops have also enhanced intelligence efforts to compile detailed inputs to ensure peaceful celebration of festivals. With CM Yogi Adityanath instructing state police to initiate corrective measures to maintain law and order in view of the upcoming festive season, senior cops on Monday also held a meeting with their subordinates, directing them to intensify patrolling in vulnerable and mixed-populated areas.

DCP (City) Abhishek Bharti told TOI, "Cops have launched a series of verification drives ahead of the festive seasons to maintain law and order." He added, "All Assistant Police Commissioners (ACPs) and thana in-charges have been asked to organise a meeting of religious heads, peace committee members and elite class at their respective circle/police station and appeal to celebrate the festivals peacefully." The DCP, meanwhile, said, "Cops have been instructed to conduct a ground inspection of the route arrangements on the routes where the processions are to be organised and assign duty points according to the expected crowd.

" The DCP said, "Cops have been asked to remove illegal loudspeakers installed at all religious places, and where loudspeakers are installed on a permission basis, they should not be played at a volume higher than the prescribed sound intensity." Moreover, ACPs and thana in-charges have been clearly instructed not to allow any kind of non-traditional events under any circumstances. Besides, cops should remain vigilant and keep a watchful eye in their respective police station areas and not let religious harmony be disturbed.

Cops have also been asked to hold a meeting with hotel authorities and inform them that no person should stay with them without valid documents. Besides, all police station in-charges/outpost in-charges should intensify night patrolling in their respective areas and take legal action against high-speed two-wheelers, stuntmen, and those using loud silencers..
