Drivers may not be aware they can cool their car down in seconds using a simple tip.

Motorists can cool down their petrol and diesel vehicles in just seconds using a little-known car door hack that many drivers are unaware of. Switching on the air conditioning will suck up fuel, increasing consumption and ensuring road users have to fill up their cars more regularly. Opening windows can also affect fuel use by increasing wind resistance and drag.

Opening car windows and physically fanning warm air out of the car may appear silly but specialists warn it could be the best trick for those on a budget. This simple hack will use up no extra fuel and can cool cars down before motorists even sit down behind the wheel. Through an online TikTok clip, @nathansbmwworkshop said: "Alright guys I'm going to show you how to cool off a car when it's extremely hot outside.

This is the quickest and best way. "Put your key in, roll your passenger window down, leave your driver's window up and you fan it. This will actually shove all the air out and instantly cool your car off in the hot summertime.

" Some TikTok users were stunned at the revelation with some believing the air conditioning was one of the only ways to cool down their models. TikTok user @mush1745 commented: "And here I'm thinking I need to turn up the AC." However, some suggested they were aware of the hack and had already been taking advantage of the technique.

@roberthicks15 remarked: "I do same thing but fully close the door. Do it maybe 5 times. It does make it cooler.

" Others appeared to question the tactic, instead urging road users to look at other methods to cool down their cars. @terryboy4242 said: "I have a similar technique, open both doors put in reverse back up fast. Been working for me for years.

" Another user added: "Buy a current model car with remote start. 5 minutes before your dumbass goes outside ..
