Majhi said that the state government has already taken up the matter with the Centre considering the need for specialised health services in western Odisha. The Chief Minister expressed hope that the process for opening the second AIIMS would begin soon.

Launching the CM-KISAN Yojana, he said that the scheme aims to extend financial assistance to farmers who have not been covered under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Yojana. Currently, Odisha has one AIIMS under operation which is established in the state capital Bhubaneswar. Established in 2014, the foundation stone for the project was laid by the late Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee July 15, 2003.
