The Seattle Seahawks are hiring New Orleans Saints offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak for their offensive coordinator position, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network . Kubiak, 37, will replace Ryan Grubb , who was fired by head coach Mike Macdonald after just one season on the job. Kubiak, the son of former NFL head coach Gary Kubiak , spent just one season in New Orleans.
The Saints started off hot under Kubiak, scoring 91 points in their first two wins to open the season. The offense struggled from there as New Orleans failed to score more than 19 points in each of the last six games of the season. The Saints dealt with injuries to key players, however, including quarterback Derek Carr and receiver Chris Olave .
Klint Kubiak lands third OC role With New Orleans still looking for its next head coach after the midseason firing of Dennis Allen , Kubiak was a likely candidate to move on this offseason. Prior to his stop in New Orleans, Kubiak served as passing game coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers. Kubiak helped the 49ers reached the Super Bowl in 2023 behind a strong passing game led by quarterback Brock Purdy .
He also called plays for the Minnesota Vikings in 2021. The Seahawks are hoping Kubiak will be an upgrade after finishing 18th in points scored and 14th in total yards while just missing the playoffs this season. Kubiak with have plenty of good pieces to work with from quarterback Geno Smith to running backs Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonnet and receivers Jaxon Smith-Njigba and DK Metcalf .
