Second-year wide receiver Puka Nacua was knocked out of Sunday night's matchup against the Detroit Lions after he suffered a concerning knee injury in the first half. Nacua reeled in four catches for 35 yards before suffering the injury. Ultimately, the Rams went on to fall to the Lions with a 20-26 score in overtime.

Nacua underwent MRI testing to determine the severity of his knee injury on Monday. Los Angeles head coach Sean McVay says his starting wideout has suffered a PCL sprain and is a candidate to be placed on the injured reserve. If Nacua is placed on IR, he would be held off the field for at least the next four games.

Puka Nacua has a PCL sprain and is an IR candidate, per Sean McVay. Nacua stepped up in a major way last season as star wide receiver Cooper Kupp dealt with injury issues of his own. The former BYU pass catcher recorded the best rookie wide receiver season of all-time, setting new marks for both receptions and receiving yards.

Kupp stepped up to fill the loss of Nacua on Sunday night. The 2021 Offensive Player of the Year tied his single-game reception record with 14, notching 110 yards and a touchdown. Lon Horwedel-Imagn Images Kupp will need to continue to carry the Rams' receiving load as Nacua recovers from this unfortunate early-season injury.

The Rams will face off against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 2..
