Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott couldn’t ask for much more through the first two months of the season. Sitting firmly atop the AFC East at 6-2, the Bills’ offense ranks Top 10 in both points scored and total yards, but it’s been the defense that has stolen the show over the last few weeks, holding the Jets, Titans, and Seahawks to under 20 points. In a press conference on Monday, McDermott told reporters that the Bills’ red zone defense has been the main point of difference as the team charges towards a sixth straight playoff appearance.

“Well, the play-caller is a lot better than last year, let’s start with that,” McDermott joked. “The coaches are doing a really good job of putting a good game plan together.” Sean McDermott on the team's improvement in red zone defense- "Well, the play caller is a little better than the play caller last year," he says with a smile.

#Bills #BillsMafia The play-caller McDermott is referring to is first-year defensive coordinator, Bobby Babich. Formerly Buffalo's defensive backs and linebacker coach dating back to 2017, Babich is responsible for the Bills allowing just 12 red zone touchdowns - close to 10 points less in comparison to last year. “I thought he did a nice job, I thought he called a nice game.

The preparation through the week was at a high level. The defensive staff all work together like you’d expect, there’s no egos,” Babich went on to say. Following last week’s 31-10 beatdown over Seattle, the Bills now enter what should be a telling four-week stretch, starting in Week 9 with the Dolphins, followed by the Colts, the unbeaten Chiefs, and the 49ers after the bye.

Rasul Douglas has been a bright spot in Buffalo’s defence following last year’s midseason trade, while the defense is set to receive a timely boost with Von Miller eligible to return after serving a four-week suspension..
