The relationship between Sean 'Diddy' Combs and his late ex-partner Kim Porter has attracted renewed interest lately amid his detention over sex trafficking charges. Diddy, 54, and Kim - who passed away, aged 47, in 2018 - had a "tumultuous" relationship. The former couple had a 13 year on-off relationship between 1994 and 2007 and welcomed three children together; Christian, now 26, and twins Jessie James, now 17, and D'Lila, now 17.

Diddy also helped raise Kim's son Quincy, now 33, from a previous relationship. Kim, who was a model and actor, was found dead at her home in 2018. It was later announced that she had died after contracting a form of pneumonia , according to the coroner.

It was stated following tests, the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner determined that she died from lobar pneumonia and her death was certified as natural. The following year, Diddy reflected on his late ex-partner's death in an interview with ESSENCE . It was reported by the outlet in 2019 that parenthood "meant everything" to Kim and that in her final moments her children were her focus.

Diddy said in the interview that he spoke to Kim just a few days before she passed away. He told the outlet that she had been feeling unwell at the time and issued a request to her ex, who was looking after their children at the time. He said: "She had the flu, and she sent the kids over to my house so they wouldn't get sick.

One night I was checking on her, and she was like, 'Puffy, take care of my babies'." Diddy added: "She actually said that to me before she died." It was reported earlier this week that while Diddy is being held at New York's Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) twins D'Lila and Jessie are being looked after by their late mother's best friend Lala, who has reportedly been their caregiver for the last few years but isn't their legal guardian.

They are said to be in Los Angeles while his sons Quincy, Justin, 30, and Christian are in New York for Diddy's legal proceedings. Diddy's homes were raided this week in connection to sex trafficking. He was ordered to be held without bail after being charged with sex trafficking.

Manhattan federal Magistrate Judge Robyn Tarnofsky made the ruling after an almost two-hour-long hearing where prosecutors and the musician's lawyer argued on whether he should be jailed until he faces trial. The judge agreed with the argument put forward by the US Attorney's office that he's a danger to the public and the potential witness in the case against him. He pleaded not guilty to racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking charges, with his lawyers offering $50million (£38m) for bail and in-home detention.

Judge Tarnofsky heard both sides and taking a brief break to consult with court officials, it was ordered that Diddy be 'detained'. The next hearing is set for September 24 and the rapper was led out of court without being handcuffed. Diddy "engaged in a persistent and pervasive pattern of abuse toward women and other individuals," according to an unsealed document.

The indictment details allegations dating to 2008 that he abused, coerced and threatened women for years "to fulfil his sexual desires, protect his reputation, and conceal his conduct". He is accused of enticing female victims and male sex workers into drugged-up, sometimes days-long sexual performances dubbed "freak offs," with Diddy and victims often receiving IV fluids to recover.
