A car park which has been closed for months during works has finally reopened. Brighton and Hove City Council's Black Rock car park reopened a few days ago and motorists are already making use of the spaces in Madeira Drive. It had been planned to be part of the Black Rock redevelopment and was set to lose some of its spaces for a new toilet block and seafront classrooms.

Councillor Jacob Taylor, deputy leader of the council and Cabinet member for Finance and City Regeneration, said: “Work is progressing well at Black Rock and we’re pleased to have the car park open again and already being well used. Black Rock car park is in Madeira Drive (Image: The Argus) “As we announced back in August last year, we have had to scale back some of our original plans after the costs of the project increased.
The car park will therefore remain open for the foreseeable future. “Our intention now is to work with the community and businesses to create and exciting future for the Black Rock site with facilities which people want and that will be well used. “When the current work is completed, it will play a big part in helping revitalise this area of the seafront.
