Surat: Office-bearers of Surat Diamond Bourse (SDB) and leading diamantaires of the city on Friday paid a surprise visit to the offices of diamond traders operating from Mahidharpura diamond market . The group of diamond industry leaders went to the birthplace of diamond trade in the city to encourage the traders to start operations from the new premises. The industry leaders included Sevanti Shah, chairman of Venus Jewels; Govind Dholakia, BJP MP and chairman of Shree Ramkrishna Exports; and Lalji Patel, chairman of Dharmanandan Diamond.
Dholakia is chairman while Patel is vice-chairman of SDB's working committee. Ashesh Doshi, vice-president of the SDB, and Mathur Savani, chairman of Kiran Hospital, were also present. The team discussed the prospects of starting offices with the office owners at the earliest.
The committee urged the office owners to start business from the new premises. Videos of some of the office owners were shot in the presence of the committee members to send a message to other office owners in the industry and encourage them. In the recent past, multiple attempts were made and meetings were held by the SDB teams to encourage the traders to start their offices.
Nearly 290 offices were started at SDB by manufacturers and traders. The office-bearers attempted to start both buying and selling activities for smooth business operations. SDB is also attracting brokers.
A custom house was started in SDB to facilitate businesses in export.
