Surat: More than a year after the formal inauguration of the Surat Diamond Bourse (SDB)—the world's largest office building—its chief executive officer, Mahesh Gadhvi, has stepped down to pursue a new opportunity in Ahmedabad. Gadhvi, an expert in project management and administration, will now be involved in a development project in the city. Having joined SDB in 2017 during its planning phase, Gadhvi played a crucial role in overseeing the project's development, including the auctioning of office spaces.
Before his tenure at SDB, he served as a project development consultant for Kiran Hospital, a multi-super speciality hospital. "For better opportunities, I am shifting to a new project that is in the development phase. My role at SDB was to ensure the smooth execution of the project, and now that it is fully operational, I am moving on," he said.
SDB vice chairman Lalji Patel acknowledged Gadhvi's contributions, stating, "He was instrumental in project management. Although the development work was completed two years ago, he continued with us upon management's request. Now, with a better career opportunity, he is moving forward.
" Currently, the SDB management committee is focused on making the 4,200-office complex fully functional. A significant portion of the building remains unutilised, with only a handful of property owners having begun operations..
