Birth: 1943 Death: 2024 Scotty Dale Mitchell, a longtime resident of Aptos, CA passed away peacefully on November 9th, 2024, at the age of 81. Scotty served as a California Highway Patrol Officer for 20 years, retiring in 1989 from Santa Cruz County. Upon retirement, he and his business partner successfully ran and operated Markley’s Gun Shop in Scotts Valley, CA and later founded Markley’s Gun Range in Watsonville, CA until he officially retired in 2008.

Scotty had a love for hunting, fishing, and enjoying time with his family and friends at his cabin on Pine Mountain Lake. Scotty is survived by the love of his life, Karen Mitchell, his children, daughters Carrie Mummert, Candice Ritter, Julie Marsalisi and son, Ernie Mitchell, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, sister, Elaine Bidillo, nieces, nephews, son in law Steve Marsalisi, daughter in law Eline Mitchell and many amazing friends that will miss him dearly. He is preceded in death by his parents Dewey and Eva Mitchell, brother Sonny Mitchell, sister Shirley Pedroza, and Stepson Brett Thomas.
