NEW DELHI: A 28-year-old man was murdered, allegedly by two brothers, after his uncle scolded them for harassing a girl in northeast Delhi's Nand Nagri on Friday. Police have arrested them. The deceased was identified as Manish, alias Rahul, who lived with his family in Sunder Nagri.

The accused have been identified as Salman, a teaseller, and Arbaaz, a labourer, and booked for murder. DCP (northeast) Rakesh Paweriya said cops went to the spot after being informed that a person had been stabbed in the neck near a restaurant in Murga Market around 9.30pm.

Accused even beat up the girl: Victim's friend Manish's uncle, Krishan Kumar (38), told police that Salman and Arbaaz were harassing a girl in Sunder Nagri when he intervened, scolding the two and asking them to leave. About half an hour later, he was told that they were quarrelling with his nephew, Manish. "When Kumar reached there, he saw Arbaaz holding Manish and Salman stabbing him with a sharp weapon on the right side of his neck.

Manish was critically injured," police said. He later succumbed to his injuries. His friend Aman said, "Manish was leaving the park after receiving a call from his wife when the duo, accompanied by a group of their associates, arrived and attacked him.

" He managed to escape and was rushed to a hospital. But the severe injuries caused excessive bleeding and he died later, said Aman. He alleged that the accused brothers were not only harassing the girl but were also beating her, prompting Kumar to confront them.

"Their father also came and threatened Manish's uncle," he claimed. According to Aman, Manish was the sole breadwinner for his family of three: his wife, their four-year-old daughter and two-month-old son. "He used to assist his uncle in the cable operation business.

" An officer said they were probing the role of the accused's father in the case. Efforts are also under way to locate the girl to record her statement. "Based on her testimony, we may consider adding further sections of BNS to the charges against the accused," said the officer.

Police have recovered the weapons of offence. The accused were earlier involved in attempted murder and snatching cases. The deceased himself was involved in four criminal cases, police said.
