The event, the second of its kind following last year, drew some 200 young people studying artificial intelligence (AI), software and other emerging tech areas, according to the ministry.
The event was organized to help the young participants better understand the global tech industry before they visit booths for the IT exhibition. Some Korean startup founders and engineers from major global tech firms, such as Meta, were also invited to share their experiences and perspectives with young people there. “The ministry is placing a strategic focus on nurturing highly-educated tech manpower who will lead the era of AI,” said Jeon Young-soo, director general for the ICT industry policy bureau at the ministry.
“We will strengthen Korea’s competitiveness by educating the core workforce in the digital sector.” This year's edition of CES, the world's largest IT exhibition, kicked off on Tuesday and runs through Friday. Global tech firms showcase their latest innovations to attract investment from potential clients and capture the attention of international visitors.
