Councils have started to release details of school closures following another frosty night. More snow has fallen in some areas and ice could pose a risk on untreated surfaces. A yellow warning for snow and ice remains in place this morning, covering parts of Wales.

A second yellow alert was also issued last night, specifically warning of icy and slippery conditions. Several schools in Wrexham , Flintshire , Gwynedd and Denbighshire have closed, with more closures potentially being reported throughout the morning. Councils stress that they "do not make a blanket decision to close all schools due to inclement weather .

" It is up to headteachers to decide whether children can travel safely to and from school , and to judge if sites will remain safe throughout the day. There may be more wintry showers in places, easing during the afternoon with sunny spells in eastern Wales. Temperatures are forecast to peak at 6C but, in a brisk northerly wind, it will feel colder.
