1 2 Ludhiana: Gursharn Jit Singh Sandhu assumed charge as the principal of SCD Govt College here on April 4. Since the retirement of Tanvir Sachdev as principal of the college last Aug 31, the post of regular principal was lying vacant. The principal of Govt College for Girls, Suman Lata, had been given additional charge of the college.
Sandhu is an alumnus of SCD Govt College. He completed his M Sc in Mathematics from the college during 1986-88. His academic journey continued with an MPhil from Panjab University, Chandigarh, followed by a PhD from Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla.
Sandhu began his teaching career in 1990. Through PPSC, he started his career in govt colleges with Government College for Girls, Ludhiana, in 1995 and joined the faculty of PG department of Mathematics, SCD Government College in 1998. He was promoted to the position of professor in 2012.
With a distinguished teaching career spanning 34 years, he has also served at institutions such as Panjab University Campus, Chandigarh, and Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana.
