ISLAMABAD - President Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) Wednesday urged the prime minister and the federal government to find lasting solution to the Balochistan issues. President SCBA Mian Muhammad Rauf Atta met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif while Federal Minister for Law and Justice Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar, President Balochistan High Court Bar Association Mir Attaullah Langove, and Member Baluchistan Bar Council Khalil Panezai were also present in the meeting, held at the Prime Minister’s Secretariat. President SCBA urged the prime minister and the federal government to play active role in addressing the aforesaid concerns.
He also suggested the establishment of a high-powered committee with full authority and mandate, comprising senior politicians such as Dr. Abdul Malik, Maulana Abdul Wasey, Nawab Aslam Raisani, Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah, Sardar Chandio, Mr. Ayaz Sadiq, Khawaja Saad Rafique, Aimal Wali Khan, and Barrister Gohar.
This committee, he suggested, be given full mandate to initiate negotiations with BNP-Mengal and other protesting political factions to address their genuine grievances and pressing issues in Balochistan. President SCBA described the situation as extremely dire, stating that fundamental rights guaranteed under Articles 9 (Security of Person), 15 (Freedom of Movement), 16 (Freedom of Assembly), and 19 (Freedom of Speech) are effectively non-existent. Additionally, frequent road closures and the unavailability of mobile networks are further exacerbating the situation.
The direct victims of these issues are the general public, particularly the people of Baluchistan, whose peace and tranquility have been severely compromised.
