Scarborough’s November ballot takes shape

Three seats on the Town Council and one on the school board are to be filled, and several bond referendums will be on the ballot.

Scarborough voters will be tasked with filling three seats on the Town Council and one on the school board in addition to answering three referendum questions at this November’s election. Seats and candidates Two seats with three-year terms are up for grabs on the Town Council. Councilors Nick McGee and Don Hamill are not running for reelection and Cory Fellows, Crescencia Maurer and Scott Doherty are vying for their seats.

In addition, William Donovan is the sole candidate running for a council seat left vacant by Councilor Jean-Marie Caterina. The winner will complete the remaining two years of Caterina’s term. Meanwhile, Mitchell Rockenstire is the sole candidate for school board this November.



The winner will fill the vacancy created by Carolyn Gammon with a term expiring in June 2026. Referenda A $6 million bond to replenish the town’s land acquisition fund will appear on the ballot. The fund is used to support land purchases for conservation, public access, recreation and wildlife protection.

A $1 million bond for the Police Department to spend on body-worn and cruiser cameras will also be on the ballot. Scarborough is one of the few departments in southern Maine that does not have that equipment. Informational meetings on the bond will be held at the Public Safety building and on Zoom on Thursday, Sept.

26, and Oct. 24 starting at 6 p.m.

Another $1 million bond would go toward a new pumper truck for the Fire Department. The new truck would replace a 20-year-old one and the investment is part of the department’s apparatus replacement plan. For information on elections and voting, go to scarboroughmaine.
