Scarborough Athletic Club’s Pete Smith travelled to Sydney to compete in the Abbott World Marathon Majors Age Group World Championships.

Scarborough Athletic Club’s Pete Smith travelled to Sydney to compete in the Abbott World Marathon Majors Age Group World Championships. The 62-year-old club veteran athlete qualified for this prestigious event, due to subsequent performance and ranking from a performance at the World Major 2023 Boston Marathon.

He completed the hilly course in 3.42.53.



Following his performance he is now hoping to be selected for the 2025 Majors Championship, at the New York Marathon. SAC runner Pete Smith in action at the Abbott World Marathon Majors Age Group World Championships in Sydney. Sixty-three-year-old Jean finished in 34.07 and was 12th Over-60 overall of 25.

Harry Whitehouse was first Over-75 at the Kirkdale Reserve parkrun in Melbourne, Australia. Michael Webster and Angela Jordan won their age groups at the Zegar Plas parkrun in South Holland. Michael was 1st Over-60 and Angela 1st Over-55.

Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Lee Wiles was fourth overall of 31, at the Mount Pleasant event in the Falkland Islands. Twenty-seven SAC members took part in the North Yorkshire Water Park parkrun at Wykeham. Will Anderson was the club’s first finisher with second overall of 196.

Hester Butterworth led the club’s females with second female overall of 89 and first Over-50. They finished together and both headed their Age Group.
