A gardening influencer has gone viral after sharing just how easy it is to grow your own peppers, allowing you to save money on your food shops. With the ever-growing food prices , people are turning to grow their own fruit and vegetables in their gardens. To help, gardener Joe, known as 'Joesgarden' on social media, has shared his top tips on how to successfully grow your own food.

In one video which has been viewed over 3.1 million times on TikTok , he urged people to stop buying peppers from the store and instead start growing them yourself. "Did you know it’s super easy to grow your own peppers at home by following these few quick steps," she said at the start of the video before explaining how to do it.

Holding a plastic box, he said: "Simply pop some soil into an old cookie box with holes in the bottom and sow about five or six pepper seeds." Joe went on to show how he three seeds in a row for two rows before putting the box on the ground and watering it. You don't have to buy a packet of seeds, but instead you can use the seeds that comes inside a pepper.

"Give it a light sprinkle of water, and close the lid to create a mini greenhouse." he said. You then need to wait for a few weeks until the seeds have sprouted and has grown into plants that are a couple inches tall, Joe said: "After a few weeks they will look like this, and that’s when you’ll want to pot them on individually, just like this.

" He potted each plant into individual plant pots before waiting another few weeks for the plants to grow even bigger, making sure to keep them watered in the meantime. When they've grown into even bigger plants, Joe said: "Pot them on again at this size, and soon you’ll start to see little flowers forming. That’s what turns into these beautiful peppers.

" Continue to care for your pepper plant as it will start to grow the peppers. As you're growing them yourself, you can decide at what part of the ripening process you want to pick them. "Harvest them young if you like them green, or leave them on the plant to mature to red," he explained.

As the peppers grow in smaller, individual pots, this makes for the perfect gardening project if you don't have a big outdoor space to use. You'll be just as successful planting them on a balcony as you would a garden ..
