The Golden State Warriors share similarities with the 1990s Chicago Bulls. They spent the better half of a decade dominating the NBA. Both had a fair share of drama, even during the championship years.
However, the current Warriors roster is out of the dynasty era, unlike the Michael Jordan Bulls era. There is one aspect in which Golden State can outdo the 1998 Bulls, at least regarding dramatic effects. In light of Stephen Curry's recent contract extension, will Steve Kerr follow through with what Phil Jackson didn't do with Jordan: retiring after their respective contracts? For Kerr and Curry to finish their careers together would be a happy ending in an otherwise downward trajectory for a franchise accustomed to winning championships. If Kerr receives a one-year extension, he could retire with Curry, the player who made his life easy despite suffering significant back pain and mental headaches dealing with Green. Last season, the Warriors missed the playoffs despite winning 46 wins.
