Cooking sausages in the air fryer makes them "brown" and "crispy" when one step is taken right beforehand. Sausages are one of those items that are super easy to cook in an air fryer . You simply pre-heat the device, then place the sausages in for about ten to fifteen minutes.
Then, you can just let the air fryer do its thing. It really makes cooking a full English breakfast so much simpler. But some people recommend doing one simple thing to your sausages before you put them in the air fryer to make them come out perfectly browned and crispy.
TikTok users like home cook Christine Pittman, who posts under the username @cookthestory, use this clever hack to make sure their sausages cook perfectly in the air fryer every time. The one extra step is simply poking your sausages with a knife before they cook. In her clip, Pittman can be seen piercing her sausages a number of times before she puts them in the air fryer tray to let them cook.
While this seems random to some, she says that there is a specific reason she does this when cooking sausages . "Quite often if you don’t poke them, they’ll split (from the pressure of the liquid boiling inside)," she said in the comments section of her viral video. "Then you get a large crack and often lose even more liquid.
" In the video, she also points out how it is important not to overlap the sausages when putting them in the air fryer tray. She cooks them at 400F, which is just over 200C, for ten minutes. After the ten minutes have passed, she fulls the sausages out of the air fryer and shows off how they have cooked to perfection, saying that they are brown, sizzling and crispy.
"The best part is, all the fat drains away," she says. "They are perfectly cooked on the inside too." Many TikTok users seemed to be big fans of the sausage hack, with the video being liked and saved thousands of times while receiving over 100 comments.
One person wrote under the clip: "Turned out perfect! Thank you!" Another enjoyed similar results and commented: "Perfect instructions! [They] came out perfectly, thank you!" A third said: "That's exactly why I don't use the foil. It keeps the meat greasy." Another said that they tried it and their sausages came out "so juicy".
