St. Ambrose senior soccer player Kaitlyn Brunson has been named the CCAC Player of the Year. The midfielder from Marion leads the league in goals (15) and points (37) for the CCAC regular season- and tournament-champion Fighting Bees.
Three other Bees also were honored, including Taylor DeSplinter from Geneseo and Moline’s Kendall Wendt. DeSplinter, a senior midfielder, registered six goals and four assists despite missing time due to injury. Her 17 points rank third on the roster, earning first team All-CCAC honors.
Wendt, an Alleman High School grad, has scored 11 goals in her senior campaign, second-most on the squad. She also has one assist. Wendt was named to the second team.
Senior defender Abigail Goff was named to the first team. The Dixon, Ill., product helped the Bees keep 11 clean sheets this season.
She’s also added one goal and five assists for St. Ambrose, which has won 11 straight matches heading into the NAIA tournament, which begins Nov. 21.
Additionally, Jon Mannall was named the CCAC Head Coach of the Year after leading the Bees to a 14-5-2 record. In the 11-game winning streak, SAU has outscored its opponents 41-3. Brunson Get local news delivered to your inbox!.
