Saturday Kitchen got a dose of comedy this week with guest Josh Widdicombe, but it nearly turned into a painful experience. During today's episode (Saturday, November 16), Matt Tebbutt was busy whipping up fondue for the comic when Josh decided to get adventurous with the equipment. He cheekily tested the cheese-melting burner, even after host Matt had cautiously used garlic to anoint the pot before setting it beside the roaring blue flame.

The comedian and Strictly Come Dancing Christmas 2024 star couldn't resist placing his hand directly above the flame and immediately recoiled, letting out a shocked "Whoah, hot!", sparking laughter from everyone on set. Matt quickly warned, "Yeah, yeah, watch your hand", reports the Express . Yet Josh's risky curiosity saw him hover his hand above again, albeit at a safer distance.

"Ooh! " he cried out, rapidly withdrawing his hand once more as Matt clarified, "It's a blue flame, you can't see it," and jestingly added, "Don't do that at home! That's why we make Josh do it." Unable to contain himself, Josh chortled and gestured over the burner, jokingly recalling, "I feel like I'm back with the Bunsen burner at school, it's great!" Matt then jested about a schooldays safety lesson, ribbing, "Do you remember where the hottest part is?" To which Josh candidly responded with a laugh, "Yes, yes!" and then confessed, "Well, clearly, no!" The segment was a good-humoured cautionary tale for viewers, reminding them that a blue flame signifies extreme heat and should not be tampered with. The evening took a further turn for the absurd once the fondue was brought out and Josh enthusiastically dove in, armed with croutons.

His first attempt ended in failure, but on his second try, he successfully coated the crouton in a generous helping of cheese. As he lifted it out of the pot, the cheese stretched impressively, prompting Josh to exclaim, "It's quite stringy! " He proceeded to carry the crouton across the room, the cheese trailing behind, until Matt intervened and broke the strand. Finally able to take a bite, Josh declared the cheese "lovely".
