The Satat Jivikoparjan Yojana , implemented by the Bihar Rural Development Department under the Jeevika Project, has successfully helped over 95,000 extremely poor families rise above the poverty line. So far, 2,01,218 such families have been identified under the scheme. Of these, 1,85,122 families have received livelihood gap funding, while 1,89,271 families have been provided with integrated assets such as cows, goats, etc.
According to a press release from the department, the scheme’s core objective is to empower the most disadvantaged and backward class families, particularly Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and other vulnerable groups, by making them self-reliant. Today, they are moving toward a life of dignity through sustainable and respectable means of livelihood.
Each family is being provided with investment support ranging from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 2 lakh, enabling them to pursue stable income-generating activities such as animal husbandry. This has led to a noticeable improvement in both their economic conditions and overall lifestyle. The impact is not just financial – social upliftment is evident too.
