JKDM Sarawak director Norizan Yahya said three raids were carried out at different premises, namely in Muara Tabuan Light Industrial Park, Batu 13, Jalan Kuching-Serian, and Kenyalang Park, Shopping Centre, on February 24.“The first raid was made when Customs officers, acting on a tip-off, conducted a raid at Muara Tabuan Light Industrial Park.“A total of 69,461.



82 litres of alcoholic beverages worth RM1,136,993.22 were seized in the raid.“The location was being used for the storage and sale of alcoholic beverages, suspected to be contraband,” he said in a statement today.

On the same day, Customs officers also raided premises located at Batu 13, Jalan Kuching-Serian and Kenyalang Park.“1,263,600 sticks of white cigarettes of various brands without tax stamps and 475.20 litres of alcoholic beverages stored within the premises at Batu 13, Jalan Kuching-Serian were seized.

95 litres of alcoholic beverages, suspected to be prohibited goods.“These items were found stored inside the premises as well as in a locked lorry parked outside,” Norizan said.All three cases are also under investigation under Section 135(1)(d) of the Customs Act 1967.

Norizan also urged the public to assist JKDM in combating smuggling activities, particularly those involving cigarettes, alcoholic beverages, fireworks, drugs, vehicles, and other contraband.Members of the public can report suspected smuggling activities via the Customs Toll-Free Hotline at 1-800-88-8855 or at the nearest Customs office in any state.“The department assures that the identity of all informants will be kept strictly confidential,” he added.
