It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Sarah Marlene Hermance, age 86, on March 1, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. A beautiful woman of French Canadian and Native American heritage, Sarah was a beacon of strength, love and devotion throughout her life. Sarah lived her life in service to her family with unwavering dedication and boundless devotion.
Her protective nature was a shield for those she loved, ensuring they always felt safe, cherished and supported. She lived a life of quiet sacrifice; always putting others needs before her own with countless acts of selflessness. Her generosity and love were felt by everyone she encountered, and she was the unshakable backbone of her family – a steady presence whose love and strength were a foundation on which her loved ones could always rely.
Sarah tirelessly supported the ones she loved, no matter the cost, and did so with fierce determination and unbreakable will. Our mom fought with incredible strength to stay alive, enduring so much just to be there for her family. Her love and devotion kept her going, always putting us first even in the hardest times.
Sarah was predeceased by her beloved spouse, Edward Sr., her daughter, Susan, and grandchildren, Adam and Conor, her brother Richard and sisters Lillian, Anna, and Almira. Her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of her children: Elizabeth (Jeffrey) Lapointe, Dottie (Gary) Tucker, Carole (Thomas) Bolen, Edward Hermance, 2nd and her cherished grandchildren: Larry, Nicole, Scott, Amy, Garrett, Tommy, Jack, Devon, Caitlin, and Dylan, and great-grandchildren: Cassie, Grayson, Evan, Ryan, and Aubrey.
She also leaves behind her brothers Robert, Harry James, David and her sister, Doris. In accordance with Sarah’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. A private graveside service was held for family members at Pine View Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, an organization Sarah held dear. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff at Glens Falls Hospital and the CR Wood Cancer Center for their exceptional care and compassion during Sarah’s illness.
Rest in peace mom. Our hearts are broken beyond words, but we will find strength in the beautiful moments you gave us. We love you.
