A flag-raising at Sanford Fargo marked Donate Life Month, highlighting the need for organ donors as 100,000 people await transplants.

FARGO — Sanford Hospital held a special flag-raising ceremony Thursday, April 3, in recognition of Donate Life Month. The hospital raised the Donate Life flag to honor organ donors and spread awareness about the need for organ transplants. In 2024, 16 people who passed away at Sanford Fargo donated their organs, saving 54 lives.

"So, right now in the U.S. there's 100,000 people who are currently waiting for organs and some of them will not live to see the day they receive an organ transplant," said Kirsten Frantsvog, Sanford chaplain.

According to Donate Life America, every eight minutes, someone is added to the organ donation waitlist..
