KOCHI: Sandra Thomas has been expelled from the film producers’ association. The producers’ association has taken action against Sandra, also an actress, for breach of discipline. Sandra Thomas had filed a complaint that the association office bearers had summoned her to a meeting in connection with film distribution and then spoke in an insulting manner.

Following this, the police had registered a case against the office bearers. The association's action soon followed. Sandra came forward with serious allegations against the producers’ association after the Hema Committee report was released.

Sandra Thomas alleged that the organization was working only according to the decisions of one or two individuals and are not informing anything to others. Sandra had also raised allegations in the letter sent to the film chamber and the film producers association, demanding fundamental changes in the workplace. There was a lot of discussion in the society days after the Hema Committee report was released.

However, none of the film organizations have expressed a clear opinion or taken a stand. Sandra had also hinted in the letter that this is creating more suspicion in the public. ‘I feel deeply angry and saddened to know that the sector where I work is a place where so many misogynistic and inhumane activities are taking place.

Therefore, there should be fundamental changes in the workplace. A strict rule should be introduced that those in positions of power should not be influential, clear political party activists, caste organization office bearers, or organization office bearers related to the film industry. Crimes of a criminal nature that occur on film sets or studios should be reported to the police station itself, without settling them within the organizations,’ Sandra Thomas mentioned in the letter.
