By clicking sign up, you agree to our terms . San Diego has been ranked the fifth healthiest city in the United States, according to a recent report by WalletHub . The personal finance company conducted a study comparing 182 of the largest cities in the country across 41 metrics of good health.



These metrics ranged from the cost of medical visits and fruit and vegetable consumption, to the share of physically active adults in each city. San Diego held some of the highest scores in hiking trails per capita, healthy restaurants per capita and its share of physically active adults. The city’s total score in health care, food, fitness and green space amounted to 62.

62, placing it only 0.2 behind Salt Lake City. San Francisco took the lead as the healthiest city in America with a score of 68.

05. Another California city, Huntington Beach, placed 10th. WalletHub analyst Chip Lupo attributes San Francisco’s ranking to having the second-lowest percentage of obese adults in the country, along with its focus on healthy eating and physical activity.

” The three cities that ranked the lowest on the list were Shreveport in Louisiana, Gulfport in Mississippi and Brownsville in Texas. Brownsville ranked the lowest with a score of 24.07.
