What a week for Galaxy S24 owners. Future Publishing via Getty Images Samsung’s long-delayed Android 15 release and excellent Oner UI 7 wrap have been under intense scrutiny as the upgrade schedule has slipped further and further behind Pixels and other OEMs. It finally hit this week, only to be pulled almost immediately with a “serious bug.
” Something of a nightmare come true for the company, and delaying critical security updates coming to millions of flagship phones. Samsung’s Galaxy S24 users who are due that upgrade now will be surprised to learn that it will likely resume today, meaning the delay was just 24-hours and not any longer. That said, the release schedule for all but the more recent flagships does show longer delays than expected before all phones will be running the latest OS.
The notable tipster @UniverseIce , who first shared news of the upgrade stall, posted early on April 15 that “One UI 7 will be pushed to S24 series users today.” When asked about the stall, Samsung told me “the One UI 7 rollout schedule is being updated to ensure the best possible experience. The new timing and availability will be shared shortly.
” While there’s no official confirmation that it has resumed again today, there’s no reason yet to assume a longer delay. SamMobile summed up the mood on April 14; “This reflects poorly on Samsung, as the company couldn’t manage a bug-free release for One UI 7.0 despite months of testing in multiple countries.
For the Galaxy S24, the company released six beta updates as part of the One UI 7.0 Beta Program. The Galaxy Z Flip 6 and the Galaxy Z Fold 6 also received multiple beta updates, but Samsung wasn’t able to eliminate all the critical bugs.
” Kudos to Samsung for moving quickly. The Galaxy-maker will be hoping now for a smooth rollout all the way through to the last devices in June, and then a much smoother running with its Android 16 / One UI 8 rollout expected not long afterwards..
