twitter.com/F7yXNANI45 — David Katzmaier (@dkatzmaier) January 4, 2023 If the anticipated timeline holds true, this launch would occur six years after Samsung introduced its inaugural foldable smartphone. Although the company has not officially confirmed plans for this device, it has previously showcased innovative display technologies, including a hybrid model that can both fold and slide simultaneously.

According to a report from The Elec, Samsung is working on a phone with a rollable screen capable of expanding to a 12.4-inch display, nearly comparable to some Android tablets. This device would surpass the recently launched Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design, which features a 10.

2-inch screen. Additionally, the smartphone is expected to include an under-display camera (UDC), indicating that it will not have a visible camera cutout, thus providing an uninterrupted viewing experience. The combination of the expansive display and UDC technology may lead to a premium price for Samsung's anticipated rollable phone.

This development is not Samsung's first venture into innovative foldable displays. In recent years, the South Korean technology giant has introduced various foldable phones, including models that fold inward twice, resembling the letter G, and another prototype that folds in the shape of the letter Z. Furthermore, the company has secured patents for devices featuring rollable and triple-folding screens.

Samsung is reportedly working on a #Rollable smartphone with an impressive 12.4-inch display when fully extended, surpassing the size of existing foldables. Expected to debut in late 2025, it could feature an under-display selfie camera and leverage Samsung's Rollable Flex OLED.
