Co-hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Daegu Metropolitan Government, the exhibition brought together 200 companies related to the mobility sector, including those involved in batteries and electric vehicles.

Samsung SDI said that it showcased next-generation products, such as all-solid-state batteries and 46-phi cylindrical batteries, as well as LFP+ and NMX batteries. The prismatic battery P6 and the 21700 cylindrical battery, both of which are in mass production, are also on display at the event’s venue, according to the company. Additionally, the battery firm displayed a module-less battery pack CTP (cell-to-pack), which enables higher energy density and cost savings in the same volume by removing modules, as well as a video on safety-enhancing technologies.

It also exhibited the BMW iX, e-scooters and e-bikes to show its battery applications to visitors. “Samsung SDI is leading the global mobility market through its ‘super gap’ technological competitiveness and outstanding product quality,” Samsung SDI CEO Choi Yoon-ho said. “We will continue to lead the way in the future mobility market through targeted mass production of next-generation products such as all-solid-state batteries and 46-phi cylindrical batteries.

” Samsung SDI’s all-solid-state battery enables an industry-leading energy density of 900 watt hours per liter with its innovative cathode-free technology. Since late last year, samples of such batteries have been supplied to customers, receiving positive feedback from them. Mass production of the 46-phi cylindrical battery for micromobility applications is scheduled to commence early next year, according to the battery firm.

Based on a novel electrode technology, the LFP+ battery improves energy density by more than 10 percent compared to previous LFP batteries. It is also optimized for commercial vehicles with long-life performance..
