Samsung has reportedly stopped rolling out One UI 7, the latest version of the company’s custom Android UI for its Galaxy devices, due to software issues. On X, from leakster Ice Universe (via ) hinted at the discovery of a “serious bug” in the Korean Galaxy S24 series firmware, preventing some users from unlocking their phones. OneUI 7 brings a redesigned home screen to Galaxy devices, with the addition of a “Now Bar” on the lock screen providing real-time updates for supported apps.
The update also introduces new generative AI features with a deep Google Gemini integration that makes the assistant work across multiple apps in a single prompt. Samsung also works with Google to make the company’s Circle to Search feature recognize phone numbers, email, and URLs on the screen of Galaxy devices. Samsung’s new Galaxy S25 Series phones, which were released on February 7, already run One UI 7 out of the box.
It took the company two months to start rolling out the new software experience to its older flagship devices, but customers who didn’t install the update already will likely need to wait a bit longer as Samsung is likely working on a fix. Laurent is a Senior News Editor at Thurrott.com.
