On December 19th, Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance announced that it has been included in the World Index, the highest tier of the 2024 Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) evaluation. DJSI is a global ESG evaluation index that annually assesses more than 2,500 companies worldwide based on comprehensive factors beyond financial performance, including environmental, social, and governance criteria. The World Index includes the top 10%, or about 250, of these companies.

Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance is notably the only Korean insurance firm to be included in the World Index this year, acknowledging its global achievements in ESG management. In the environmental sector, Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance is expanding eco-friendly investments and disclosing biodiversity (TNFD) analysis to address climate change. In the social sector, the company has opened the 'Quality of Life Research Center for Cancer Patients' in collaboration with Samsung Medical Center to enhance financial consumer protection and practice customer-centered financial cooperation.

As a result, it has ranked first for 24 consecutive years in the National Customer Satisfaction Index (NCSI) for non-life insurance. In terms of governance, the company is establishing a board-centered corporate governance structure and pursuing continuous advancement through organizational restructuring to strengthen ESG management. "Being included in the DJSI World Index signifies global recognition of our company’s sustainable management," said an official from Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance.

"We will continue to be a trusted company for our customers by enhancing social and environmental value through ESG management.".
