Samsung E&A announced on November 15 that it has won a major project for an ethylene storage facility in Qatar. The project involves an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contract for the "Qatar RLP Ethylene Storage Plant," signed with Ras Laffan Petrochemicals, totaling approximately $418 million. Samsung E&A will collaborate with Taiwan's CTCI in a joint venture for the project, with Samsung E&A's share amounting to about $215 million.

The contract duration is set for 34 months. The project will take place in the Ras Laffan industrial complex, located about 80 km north of Qatar's capital, Doha. Key components of the project include the construction of ethylene storage facilities and utility infrastructure (U&O, Utilities & Offsites).

Notably, the new plant will support the maintenance of ethylene production facilities and temporarily store ethylene in case of emergencies. Samsung E&A will be responsible for the EPC works related to key equipment such as compressors and pumps, as well as the construction of 30,000 metric tons of ethylene storage tanks. Samsung E&A has already demonstrated exceptional performance in the previously awarded "Qatar RLP Ethylene" project in 2023, leveraging this success to secure the current contract.

The company aims to maximize efficiency by utilizing existing human and physical resources at the site while building on the trust established with the client. "We expect this contract win will further strengthen our presence in the Qatar market, and we aim to achieve successful results based on our project experience and innovative strategies," an official from Samsung E&A..
