Pune: Former Rajya Sabha MP and president of Maharashtra Swarajya Party Sambhajiraje Chhatrapati on Thursday said he will attend the all-party silent march organised in Beed on Saturday to seek justice for Massajog village sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh, who was abducted and killed on Dec 9. Sambhajiraje, who met the family of the victim earlier this month, said that the deceased should get justice and the accused in the case should be immediately arrested. The former MP said that he already expressed concerns over the links of one of the accused with a minister in the state govt.
"The minister can put pressure on the administration, and the same is now visible on the ground. It is the responsibility of the state govt to maintain law and order. But it is unfortunate that they are not ready to wake up unless people come on the street to demand justice," he said.
Earlier on Wednesday, Beed Lok Sabha MP Bajrang Sonawane said NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar and MLA Jitendra Awhad will also attend the silent march. The opposition parties along with several other outfits have jointly organised this protest to demand justice for the deceased. Stay updated with the latest news on Times of India .
