As per a report of Digit , OpenAI is planning to create its first artificial intelligence chip by 2026. At first, the company thought about setting up its own manufacturing facility, called "foundries," to make these chips. Reports suggest that after considering the expenses and the amount of time it would take to establish such a manufacturing plant, it seems that OpenAI decided to drop the idea.

They later chose to design the chips themselves instead of setting up the manufacturing facility. For the project, OpenAI is reportedly collaborating with Broadcom and TSMC. The Sam Altman-Run OpenAI is also incorporating chips from Nvidia and AMD to support their infrastructure requirements.
