Salt Lake City Braces for Snow Showers Turning to Rain, Warmer Weekend Ahead

Salt Lake City weather includes mixed snow and rain today, with clearer skies tonight and a sunny weekend forecasted by the NWS.

According to the National Weather Service, Salt Lake City residents can expect a mixed bag of weather conditions today, with a possibility of snow showers turning into rain as the day progresses. The NWS last updated their forecast on April 18th at 6:54 AM MDT, anticipating "a chance of snow showers before 3 pm, then a chance of rain and snow showers." The highs are expected to reach near 50 degrees, with the chance of precipitation pegged at 50%.

Despite the potentially wet start, little to no snow accumulation is expected. NWS advises citizens of light and variable wind becoming northeast at speeds of 15 to 20 mph in the morning.The evening will bring clearer skies, with conditions forecasted to be "mostly clear, with a low around 32 degrees, and the strong northeast winds decreasing significantly after midnight.



Looking to the weekend, the weather seems to be on an upswing. Saturday is anticipated to be sunny, with highs reaching up to 56 degrees and calm winds, according to the National Weather Service.Moving into Sunday, Salt Lake City will see temps rise with a high near 66 degrees and "mostly sunny" conditions.

Southeast winds will be light at 5 to 8 mph, becoming west in the afternoon. A slight change rolls in for Sunday night with a 30 percent chance of showers developing after midnight, possibly setting the stage for a showery start to the week.Monday maintains a 50 percent chance of showers amidst partly sunny skies and highs nudging close to 67.

The early week's wetness seems to taper off by Monday night, as the skies are expected to clear, yielding to a low around 42. “Tuesday” promises more sun, with temperatures continuing to climb, creating conditions that might be described as the week's sweet spot - mostly sunny skies with a high near 68 degrees. As we venture into midweek, there's "a slight chance of showers" forecasted for Wednesday and potential showers and thunderstorms by night, capping the day's high at a comfortable 74 degrees.
