Salmon is a fantastic dinner for anyone seeking a healthier option, and with the right recipe , you can transform it into a truly delicious dish . Lisa Bryan, a cook and founder of Downshiftology , has shared that the easiest way to get a crispier crust on salmon is to simply cook it in the air fryer with the right seasoning. She said: “This air fryer salmon recipe is the secret to a moist and crispy filet that tastes like a million bucks – in under 15 minutes! Perfect for an easy and healthy weeknight dinner recipe for the family.
” However, no one likes dried-out fish, so it is important to coat the salmon in Dijon mustard to protect it in the air fryer and help lock in moisture. Lisa said: “The mustard keeps the top moist and adds that special oomph in flavour. You could also use stone ground mustard for added texture!” Dijon mustard acts as a thin layer that will seal in moisture as the oils in the mustard blend with the natural fats in the salmon.
Not only will your salmon stay moist and flavourful, but the sugars in the mustard will lightly caramelise the surface of the fish to keep an even better crust. This is a quick way to make salmon so it is succulent on the inside with a proper crispy skin on the outside. You will need: Four salmon fillets Two tablespoons of Dijon mustard One teaspoon of paprika One teaspoon of garlic powder Salt and pepper Olive oil spray Instructions To begin, pat the salmon fillets dry with a paper towel and then spread one teaspoon of mustard evenly on each fillet.
Season the fillets with salt and pepper, then add a generous amount of the garlic and paprika. Next, spray the salmon with the olive oil to keep the fillet moist. Set the air fryer to 200C and then add the fish to two at a time to the air fryer.
Cook for eight to ten minutes until flaky and fork-tender. Repeat with the two other fillets, and your salmon will come out of the air fryer with a golden caramel crust that is still juicy..
