Recently, writer Chetan Bhagat shared his experience of working, interacting with Salman Khan and visiting his home ‘Galaxy Apartment’ in Bandstand, Mumbai. Recalling his experience he reveled that the name of the home justifies the grandiose. Chetan Bhagat is associated with B-town as some of his novels have been adapted on silver screen with big names at the centre of it.
Salman Khan also comes in this line as he felt a liking for him when he met him for the first time. Bhagat believes that Khan has a certain level of ‘sixith sense’ and has the ability to gauge a person to his liking or not. And Chetan Bhagat fared well.
This led to the actor offering him an opportunity to work with him. “I told him I’m just a writer, and that I have to go back to my day job at the bank, but he wasn’t having it. He said, ‘Stay back, you’re working on my next movie as well’,” the writer recalled sat an interview with The Lallantop.
Salman Khan and Chetan Bhagat have together for the adaptation of his book ‘One Night at the Call Centre’ into ‘Hello’. This film stars Sharman Joshi, Sohail Khan Arbaaz Khan, Gul Panag, Isha Kopikar, Amrita Arora among others. Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif have their cameos too.
In the same conversation he recalled an anecdote from his is interview during the time ‘Hello’ was released. Bhagat talked about the aura and stardom of the actor. It is true that people flock around his place, fans throng to the cinema when ‘Bhaijaan’s film is released.
Bhagat asked him how he feels about it; Khan expressed how it is all a spectacle but values the underscoring love of the crowd. He said, “He doesn’t put on a cloak. While promoting Hello, I had done an interview with him, and I’d asked him how it feels to have crowds everywhere he goes, desperate for photographs with him.
He said, ‘Mujhe aisa lagta hai jaise chidiyaghar mein bandar hota hai (I feel like a monkey in a zoo), but I know that I’m nothing without fans’. I’ve never forgotten this line. It happens to me on a much smaller scale, but when I’m irritated at the airport, I remember Salman’s line, ‘Jis din yeh chala gaya sab chala gaya‘.
