Bengaluru: After recently selling their produce in Bengaluru, farmers from across Karnataka will hold the event again in the city this weekend..The second edition of 'Raitha Santhe' will be held at Munivenkataiah Ranga Mandira at Ideal Homes Layout, RR Nagar, from 7 am to 8 pm on Saturday and Sunday.
.The first edition — held on April 12, 13, and 14 — attracted over 5,000 customers from across the city, the Karnataka State Farmers' Association said..
The initiative, which started as a protest against falling fruit and vegetable prices, has taken a new shape, with farmers deciding to set up stalls twice a month in Bengaluru to create a market of their own without middlemen intervention..Baristas, brewers whip up brands at India Coffee Festival in Bengaluru.
As of now, the association has tentatively decided to set up these markets on the second and fourth weekend of each month..The association noted that a majority of women farmers from across Karnataka would join the santhe this month.
.Sajji roti, shenga holige, chutney pudi, and Ramanagara mangoes will be special attractions, alongside fresh fruits and vegetables this week..
In support of the initiative, actor and theatre practitioner Akshata Pandavapura will give a talk on 'Aduge Maathu' at 6.30 pm on Saturday..
