THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CPM said Minister Saji Cherian need not resign in the case on his remarks insulting the Constitution. This directive was put forward by the CPM state committee that met here today. The party's stand is that Saji Cherian resigned once on moral grounds and therefore, need not resign twice on the same issue.

The minister also took the same stand the other day. Let there be an independent investigation into the case. The minister said that he will seek legal advice from the AG regarding the legal aspects of the case.

The party's stance is that Saji Cherian's argument that he was not heard, is correct. The CPM said that even though the high court said that an investigation should be conducted even though he is a minister, the court has not questioned his ministerial position and that the court has expressed confidence that an honest investigation will be conducted in the state's judicial system. Therefore, the party clarifies that Saji Cherian need not resign his ministerial berth.

Meantime, senior Congress leader V M Sudheeran demanded the resignation of Saji Cherian. However, Saji Cherian the other day said that he would study the order and approach the Supreme Court. There are some parts that the police have not investigated.

Saji Cherian clarified that the court has also said that they should be investigated. Opposition leader V D Satheesan also demanded the resignation of Saji Cherian in the wake of his unconstitutional remarks and the high court verdict. The court clarified that the report submitted by the police while Saji continued as a minister was not acceptable.

The chief minister took the wrong step by reinstating Saji Cherian, who had insulted the constitution, into the cabinet. The high court verdict further underlines the opposition's stance that his re-entry into the cabinet was wrong..
