Kamara came into the Saints’ Week 10 game against the Atlanta Falcons needing just 12 yards to break Mark Ingram’s franchise record for career rushing yards. The Saints star running back broke the mark with just over 12 minutes left in the first quarter.

To break the record, Kamara gained 7 yards on an end round -- one play after he tied the record on an 11-yard gain. Kamara and the Saints were well aware of the mark heading into Sunday's contest. The Saints named Kamara a team captain on Saturday and Kamara addressed the media on Thursday about the record.

The running back said it would be a "full circle moment" to pass Ingram, who played with Kamara for four seasons. "I came in, young buck, and he gave everything to me, poured into me and helped me become the running back I am now," Kamara said Thursday. "The player I am, the pro I am, that was my example.

"Thank God he was in my room, I had an example right there next to me to guide me and show me the way." Ingram rushed for 6,500 yards in his Saints career, breaking Deuce McAllister’s previous club record in 2021..
