Sainsbury's has issued a warning to customers not to eat a particular chocolate bar and to bring it back for a refund. The supermarket chain is recalling its 150g Belgian Milk Chocolate Honeycomb Pretzel bars from shelves. Shoppers who have bought the item with batch code "L159922" should contact the supplier without delay due to concerns that the product may contain metal fragments.

On Sainsbury's website, the advice is clear: "If you have purchased the above product with the affected batch code, please do not consume this product and instead return it to any Sainsbury's store for a refund. "For any further information, please contact Sainsbury's Careline team on 0800 636 262. No other Sainsbury's Taste the Difference confectionery products have been affected by this issue.

We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused." This latest announcement comes on the heels of a string of other product recalls. Just last week, Lidl's popular Sol and Mar Chicharricos barbecue Pork Scratchings were also pulled from shelves, reports the Mirror .

The Food Standards Agency cited potential Salmonella risk as the reason for this action. Customers are urged to return any recalled items to the store where they bought them for a full refund. The product, which is stocked in most UK supermarkets, has been flagged by Food Standards Scotland (FSS) as potentially containing a dangerous bacteria that kills one in 20 people and can even result in kidney failure. The FSS explained that this is because some of these products may contain Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC), a group of bacteria known to cause severe food poisoning and life-threatening kidney issues. Also referred to as verocytoxin producing E.

coli (VTEC), this group includes strains that can lead to serious diarrhoeal illness - as witnessed in Germany in 2011. This warning was issued for Isle of Mull Cheese's Hebridean Blue Cheese. While some people may experience symptoms such as stomach cramps and bloody diarrhoea, others may not become ill despite exposure.
