Saiee Manjrekar recently opened up about her debut in Dabangg 3 opposite Salman Khan, where she portrayed the character Rajjo alongside the Bollywood superstar. The film, however, sparked criticism largely due to the significant age gap between the two actors—Saiee was 17, and Salman was 54 when they shared the screen. Addressing this, Saiee explained why the backlash didn’t impact her, describing herself as “thick-skinned.
” In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Saiee shared that for six months following the film’s release, she remained mostly inactive on social media, which helped her stay detached from the controversy. “I was oblivious to that discussion because that was the time I had just started, and I had no management, no PR, so I was unaware of all this. I was just happy to see myself on the big screen,” she said.
It wasn’t until she became more active on Instagram six months later that she became aware of the conversation. But by then, it didn’t have much of an effect. “Since it was something that occurred six months ago, it didn’t affect me as much as it could have.
I was in a different stage of my life and career at that point,” she added. Elaborating further, Saiee explained her resilience, saying, “I’m a very thick-skinned person; things don’t affect me quickly. I’ve always been like that since childhood.
Even today, if there is praise, I will be happy, and if someone says something negative, I will take note of it, but it won’t bother me deeply. I’ll just keep going.” Although Dabangg 3 received mixed reviews from critics and performed moderately at the box office, making it the lowest-grossing film in the franchise, Saiee continues to pursue her career.
