As we slowly head into the festive season, members of the public are advised to be mindful of their safety. The advice comes as the Fiji Police Force start their festive season operation around the country on Friday. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu said safety should be paramount for everyone irrespective of the event.
“We want to remind everyone to be mindful of their safety when traveling on the road, out shopping, at picnics by the sea and or rivers and creeks or simply enjoying themselves with friends,” ACP Driu said. “Increased police presence is there for everyone’s safety, but safety starts with each individual.” ACP Driu also said they would also be assisting stakeholders in monitoring all movements, especially on the road.
“We are also here for the maintenance of law and order,” he said. “The Fiji Police Force wants an incident free festive season and is calling on for everyone’s support. Police cannot do this alone; we need your support.
Support us in keeping everyone safe whether it’s on our roads, out at sea, out in towns and cities or when you’re at home with your family and friends.” There will be maximum police presence in towns and cities, on roads and highways, in communities, picnic spots, schools and business houses.
