SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Aftershock music festival organizers are gearing up for Thursday's opening, and that includes making sure fans are aware of the safety measures in place. KCRA spoke with Chaimy McCurry, the general manager for Danny Wimmer Presents, the organization that puts on Aftershock.

McCurry said that attendees will be screened by security and metal detectors at every entrance of the music festival. "We work with the city, the parks department and all of the local authorities, including fire, EMS and police, to have a presence. This is to make sure that we are keeping our fans safe and to ensure that our artists, our crew, everyone is safe," McCurry said.

During the 2023 festival, multiple people reported getting their phones stolen . The festival is now offering patrons the ability to report any missing items through the festival's phone app in addition to making a claim on-site through the Lost and Found Department. McCurry said festivalgoers should be aware of their surroundings.

"Try not to put your phone in your back pocket. We have lockers you can rent. So if you're buying some merch, you can go place and rent the locker for the day to keep things safe as well as other items," McCurry said.

The festival will also have multiple water stations across the venue to keep people hydrated. Sacramento Police Department told KCRA that they will have a specific unit dedicated to patrolling the festival to ensure concertgoers do not leave too impaired. McCurry recommends that anyone who might need help at the festival reach out to staff.

"If you need medical attention, your best bet is to find a security guard or someone with a radio. They can call it in and get you taken care of quickly," McCurry said. Only clear bags and small solid bags or purses are allowed.
