ChanKOTA KINABALU (April 16): Sabah must move beyond political alliances driven solely by elections and instead unite around policies and principles that genuinely address the people’s needs, says DAP Socialist Youth (DAPSY) Sabah chief Chan Loong Wei.In a statement outlining DAP Sabah’s direction for the state’s future, Chan said the time has come to prioritise meaningful policies over political manoeuvring.“The people are no longer interested in who partners with whom.

They want real solutions, not just politics. Our focus must be on sound frameworks and policies, not alliances of convenience,” he said.Chan pointed out that Sabahans are increasingly frustrated with endless power struggles and are yearning for tangible outcomes such as stable electricity and water supply, better job opportunities, efficient public facilities and a brighter future for the next generation.

He called on all parties, regardless of political affiliation, to come together in the interest of building a fairer, more inclusive, and sustainable Sabah.“This unity is not about forming political pacts, it is about forging a collective commitment to the people’s welfare. The objective must be clear: a better Sabah for all,” he said, adding that real change requires political stability to ensure the effective implementation of government policies, as well as shared priorities that place the well-being of the people, especially the hardcore poor and marginalised minorities, at the forefront.

“We cannot allow differences to divide us. Politics should be a platform for collaboration and problem-solving, not a battleground for division,” he stressed.Chan added that DAP Sabah is committed to cultivating a new political culture that is progressive, mature and people-focused.

“In the end, this struggle is not about individuals, parties or positions. It is about Sabah. It’s about our people.

And it’s about the future we must build together,” Chan said. The post Sabah needs policies, not politics – DAPSY appeared first on Borneo Post Online..
